being towed by Steam Launch KWONG HING. On board I had a

crew of nine and three fokies from the HOI LEE Company. The cargo consisted of chickens, ducks, pigs and earthenware.

At about 15.30 hours when we were being towed off FUNG BAY I saw a Japanese trawler come from a southernly

direction. The trawler came along the starboard side of

the KWONG HING. We were then approximately mile to East

of mouth of FUNG BAY. It was painted grey, had two masts, one funnel and was flying a Japanese Mercantile Flag at its

stern. I saw two Japanese board the KWONG HING and tie ropes

from the trawler. About 15 minutes later the trawler went a-

head of t KWONG HING and started to tow the launch and my

junk in the direction of SAM MUN KWAN. On the way to SA MUN

I saw a Japanese take down the British flag at the stern of

the KWONG HING and cover up the flags painted on the sides of

the launch with cloth.

We arrived alongside a battle ship at SAM MUN KWAN at

19.00 hours. The trawler came and lay along the port side of

the KWONG HING. All of us on the junk were ordered onto the

KWONG HING by a Japanese who spoke Punti. The Japanese who spoke Punti was dressed in khaki and he addressed my crew and the crew of the KWONG HING by saying "Do not try to transport

ammunition to CHIANG KAI SHEK, if you do I will not release

you. If you are good citizens I will let you go.'
